O.M.F.G Glow in the Dark Kickstarter Project

Remember O.M.F.G figures? No? OK well, remember M.U.S.C.L.E. figures? If you still answered no, this probably isn't the blog for you. M.U.S.C.L.E. was the Americanized version of a Japanese property whose merchandise (mainly) consisted of small, pink, rubber characters of varying outlandishness. If you grew up in the 80's you undoubtedly had some M.U.S.C.L.E. figures. I never had enough to do anything great with, but I remember being envious of friends who had bags and bags of them and I always remembered those little pink warriors fondly.

Well, I'm not the only one who remembers which brings me finally to my point; a while back a project got going on Kickstarter called O.M.F.G (which is short for Outrageous Mini Figure Guys to the uninitiated) which was basically a massive artist-driven project that began with whittling hundreds of entries down to five finalists and having some talented folks sculpt the winners for (semi) mass production. The first release saw a flesh colored wave homaging the original M.U.S.C.L.E. color and a few other colors exclusive to various sources including Onell Design and while they were cool, I waffled for too long and ended up missing out.

Now, there is another Kickstarter project going for a second run of the first O.M.F.G wave, but in GLOW IN THE DARK PLASTIC. Clearly, this was the time to get in on the ground level as pledging as little as $10 can get you a set of the glowing versions of these nifty creatures. The project is actually already way past the goal needed for production, but is open to pledges until April 12th and you won't be charged until then if you decide to make a donation.

I think O.M.F.G. and Kickstarter itself are both fantastic ideas and am glad to support them, if you have a soft spot for M.U.S.C.L.E., 80's nostalgia or just supporting upcoming artists, you should take a look. And when I get my figures, you better believe they will pop up on here for review!
